Re: Ultimate Gun for TSHTF ?!?!
Wanted to clarify that this is a 'BASE' firearm as in defending the fort, castle, etc............wouldn't want to be on the run with 30+ lbs. of steel !

Re: Ultimate Gun for TSHTF ?!?!
Friend of mine has one. It's just a novelty. Being semiauto only with a horrendous trigger pull it's only good for looking cool at the gunrange. Of course I'd take it if he gave to me, but I wouldn't buy one. Kinda heavy too so it isn't very fun to pack around.

Yeah, but mounted on a deuce or a HMMWV, they CAN BE very effective as 'convoy protection'. At least HERE in the US.

Re: Ultimate Gun for TSHTF ?!?!
I saw a .50 cal sniper rifle that was used in the Serbian war.
It was basically a single action .50 cal with no kind of recoil brake. The stock was bare metal with no padding! Looked like some Serb probably made it in his machine shop....they wanted $900 bucks for it. |

Thats what I'd like, along with 3 or 4 feet of feed chute leading to a 2000 round drum backpack. Yes, heavy, but only at first, as it gets lighter as you shoot it, so whats your excuse? KEEP SHOOTIN! :D |
Re: Ultimate Gun for TSHTF ?!?!
I've considered such a setup before. The way I have it figured you'd generally be better served with a converted long barrel Vepr or other true RPK derived AK. Maybe even a PKM but then belts become an issue. What you'd do is flip your RPK upside down for mounting onto the swivel of your choice so you can easily lock in new drums. You'd have a handle and a crank at the rear allowing you to point and aproximate full auto fire. It'd be lighter and cheaper to feed. A .50cal would be useful as could a battery of blackpowder cannon or mortars if you had a lot of land to defend. In the end though any AK can be bumpfired, as can most semi-auto rifles. It's probably more practical just to learn how to bumpfire.
Man, I could sure use a pair of cannon... probably little 2 pounders. Since I've finally figured out how to grow lots of sugar and how to make a saltpeter pit blackpowder has become very interesting to me. |
